Genre : Festival | Blantyre

Du vendredi 30 août au dimanche 01 septembre 2013

Horaires : 00:00
Pays principal concerné : Rubrique : Musique, Théâtre, Danse

It is during this festival that all roads in the commercial city of Blantyre, Malawi lead to The Arts café run by Nanzikambe Arts in Naperi Township. It is time for theatre and arts enthusiasts to enjoy the can't-miss classical and avant-garde performances from across the globe. It is time for the Mwezi Wawala International Arts and Theatre Festival 2013 edition.

The Festival continues to offer extraordinary line-up of marginalized art genres which are: theatre, poetry/storytelling, traditional dances and acoustic music from the 30th of August through to 1st September 2013.

Mwezi Wawala is a Malawian phrase meaning ‘the moon is out and shining' and so let us play and enjoy! Traditionally in Malawi, it is under the moonlight where people sing, dance or sit around a fire to hear stories usually from the elders passing on tradition and culture through narratives, song and dance.

The festival gives both international and local audiences a chance to see marginalised arts genres in session and these are: poetry/story-telling, theatre, traditional dance, acoustic music and art exhibitions from Malawi and outside the country happening one after another on one space.
Prior to the performances, Professional theatre and arts practitioners will conduct workshops to share and impart into the artists the insights of theatre and arts.
