Blantyre-based Mizu Band led by vocalists JJ and Eunice Kadzuwa Mhango have stitched a theme song for the Public Service Reforms Programme set to be launched by President Arthur Peter Mutharika Wednesday at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.

Mizu Band which performs at Blue Elephant in Blantyre has featured Nepman, the 'Nalelo' hit maker.

The song was remixed by renowned producer Tapps Bandawe.

The song which calls on Malawians in the country to hold hands, unite and work together in developing the country, sees the voices of JJ and Kadzuwa Mhango stand out.

Nepman who is the man of the moment with his track 'Nalelo,' also stands out in the song.

In the song, the artists say time has now come for Malawians to hold hands and work together to develop Malawi. The artists urge all workers from government to the private sector to hold hands to build Malawi.

Mutharika will launch the Public Service Reforms Agenda today which is aimed at pushing Malawians in the country to stand up and hold hands to develop Malawi with its slogan making Malawi work.

According to Emmanuel Maliro, who is the group's manager, the song was recorded at Mizu Studios in Blantyre by Amos Mlolowa, who is the group's drummer.

The other members of Mizu Band which is yet to release its own songs and currently plays songs originally done by other artists, include lead guitarist Mvahiwa Hanke, bassist Chambota Chirwa, keyboardists Dick Kankhunda and Andy and percussionist Stanley.

"This is a song which has been recorded live and it will be performed during the launch," said Maliro.

The Public Service Reforms Programme according to the Peter Mutharika administration seeks to look into the future and make Malawi work to transform the country's public service.

Mutharika says Malawi is at a crossroads hence it needs to transform and become a better country and so through this programme the President is calling Malawians to action to make a choice to create a middle-income country as defined in the Malawi's Vision 2020.

It is in this spirit that Mutharika appointed a Public Service Reform Commission which is chaired by Vice President Saulos Chilima.

The other members of the commission include Professsor Peter Mwanza, Thomson F. Mpinganjira, Evelyn Mwapasa, Reverend Howard Matiya Nkhoma, Seodi V.R White, Bright Mangulama and Krishna Savjani.

The aim of this commission is to facilitate the creation of an effective and efficient Public Service that will spur economic growth through the nurturing of a market economy that is foreign direct investor friendly, as well as one that will facilitate long-term investments in health, education and other social programmes.

The President has since called on cabinet ministers, the public service and all Malawians to support efforts to transform the public service and Malawi.
