Lens Art Group hopes to uncover an array of hidden talents from University of Malawi (Unima) as they launch  'Got Talent' TV show at Chancellor College in Zomba.

Modelled along Britain's Got Talent, Chisomo Liabunya the event's sponsorship and communications coordinator said the Chanco's Got Talenthas been created to recognise and appreciate art at the country's institution of higher learning.

"We believe that Chanco, with close to 4 000 students, has immerse talent that goes unnoticed and unappreciated," Liabuba, the fourth year Bachelor of Science student, said as quoted in the press.

According to Liabuba, auditions for the event are scheduled from July 1 to 4 and 20 will be selected for the first round of elimination show to be held at the college's Great Hall on July 18.

The organisers are discussing with Times TV and Zodiak Broadcasting Station to have rights in beaming the events.

" The first show shall not be a studio-closed door audition, but will certainly be shot for TV just like the rest of the event," said Liabunya.

There shall be a total of four elimination shows with the ultimate winner taking home K500 000 (US$1 111) plus a recording deal.

Liabunya said Chanco's Got Talent is billed to be "a red carpet event" that is set to attract the attendance of top billing acts.

Sponsors for the event will be unveiled at a later date, says Liabunya.
