Chewa Heritage Foundation (Chefo) has disclosed that it will present awards to individuals and chiefs that have been committed to advancing and promoting the Chewa cultural values in the society at its forthcoming cultural dinner.

The event is said to be part of the Chewa culture exhibition in different facets of values as well as a fundraising of the Chewa annual celebration of Kulamba which is held in honour of the Chewa chief Kalonga Gawa Undi.

Chefo chairperson George Kanyama-Phiri disclosed this on Wednesday during a cultural dinner held in Lilongwe.

He said that the event presents a platform to showcase values of the Chewa culture amongst which are traditional dances, dishes, artefacts' and clothing.

"We have planned to recognise individuals and chiefs that have remained loyal top reserving, protecting and advancing Chewa values within the society and the country and this is not going to be based on the day's exhibitions rather the selection process is currently underway because it looks at a long time dedication," said Kanyama- Phiri.

He added that the group will also auction Chewa preserved artefacts from their Maravi Kingdom dominion.

"Everything that is going to happen at this dinner regardless of it's originality, it is going to be constructed to portray the Chewa culture," said Kanyama-Phiri.

Furthermore, the chairperson said that all people are invited regardless of their tribes as part of the groups' fulfillment of promoting peaceful co-existence in the society and the country as a whole.

The event is slated for July 3rd in Lilongwe at Crossroads Hotel.
