Wanjugu is searching for the remains of his father, Dedan Kimathi, leader of the Mau Mau liberation movement, who was hanged by the British and his body dumped in an unknown location. In her quest, Wanjugu discovers the atrocities of British colonisation, the concentration camps, the mass graves and the dispossession of the land of thousands of fighters. She then became a powerful voice denouncing colonial brutality while creating a national popular movement for land reappropriation.
