An oil-producing country clinches a deal with an American company. Toumer, a young engineer, discovers that the Oil Minister was bribed before the agreement. Now Oil Minister himself, he tries to understand why his country, loaded with natural resources, is amongst the poorest in the world. An accident at work, the death of a child, causes a general strike Toumer won't handle. Alone and charged with high treason, he will be sentenced to twenty years in prison. But the day of the verdict will be full of surprises.
